Welcome to Attorney
General Mike Cox's
Track Your Taxes
Webpage
This webpage is hosted by Attorney General Mike Cox
as a clearinghouse of information that allows users to track how Michigan tax
dollars are being spent by the Attorney General's office. Currently, users can
search the total amount the Michigan Department of Attorney General spends on
salary, benefits, rent, browse a detailed list of contracts, and much more. Cox
is supporting legislation that would mandate the Michigan Department of
Information Technology (DIT) create a user friendly Track Your Taxes website for
all of state government.
Attorney General Cox has encouraged the legislature
and the Governor to follow his lead and allow all Michigan citizens to see
exactly where their tax dollars are spent across state government.
The information on the Attorney General's Track Your
Taxes webpage will be updated regularly.

Public Official Financial Disclosure
Michigan is currently ranked
dead-last among the 50 states because it does not require reporting of
personal financial interests by its public officials. That is why Attorney
General Cox has proposed legislation that would require the annual reporting
of personal financial information by elected state officials, directors of
state departments, many local elected officials, candidates for these offices,
and the immediate family members of officials and candidates. This
legislation also calls for the annual reporting of gifts from lobbyists.

Although this proposal has not yet become state law, Attorney General Cox is
the first state official to post his personal financial information online.
