Water Quality and Pollution Control in Michigan Sections 303(d), 305(b), and 314 Integrated Report

Agency: Environmental Quality

WATER QUALITY AND POLLUTION CONTROL IN MICHIGAN 2008 SECTIONS 303(d), 305(b), AND 314 INTEGRATED REPORT

The Clean Water Act (CWA) requires Michigan to prepare a biennial report on the quality of its water resources as the principal means of conveying water quality protection/monitoring information to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and the United States Congress.  The Integrated Report satisfies the listing requirements of Section 303(d) and the reporting requirements of Section 305(b) and 314 of the CWA.  The Section 303(d) list includes Michigan water bodies that are not attaining one or more designated use and require the establishment of Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) to meet and maintain Water Quality Standards.  The final Integrated Report was submitted to USEPA for review on March 31, 2008. The 2008 Section 303(d) list with the associated supporting documentation and errata were approved by the USEPA on July 8, 2008.
