Nov. 13, 2009
The Michigan Department of Human Services (DHS), Bureau of Children and Adult Licensing (BCAL), issued an order of summary suspension and amended notice of intent to revoke the license of a Lapeer County adult foster care small group home licensee, Correct Care Inc., Green Valley Manor, #AM440073949, 3696 Pratt Road, Metamora, Mich. This action resulted from a recent investigation of a complaint of the adult foster care small group home.
The Nov. 3, 2009, complaint investigation found violations of the Adult Foster Care Facility Licensing Act and administrative rules regarding, in part, resident care and resident protection. BCAL took emergency action to protect the health, welfare and safety of vulnerable adults.
Effective 9 a.m., Nov. 11, 2009, the summary suspension order prohibits Correct Care Inc. from operating an adult foster care small group home at 3696 Pratt Road, Metamora, Mich., or at any other address or location. Accordingly, Correct Care Inc. may not accept physically handicapped, developmentally disabled, mentally ill and aged adults for care after that date and time. The order also requires Correct Care Inc. to inform all of the guardians of adults in care that the license has been suspended and that they can no longer provide adult foster care.
Correct Care Inc. has held License #AM440073949 to operate an adult foster care small group home since Dec. 9, 1997. The license was for 12 adults.
Michigan law defines an adult foster care small group home as "an adult foster care facility with the approved capacity to receive 12 or fewer adults to be provided with foster care."
