LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following recent appointments and reappointments:

Commission on Services to the Aging

Kathleen L. Johnston-Calati, a Democrat of Lansing, director of government affairs for CareSource Michigan, is appointed for a term expiring July 28, 2010.  She succeeds Albert M. Lewis who has resigned.

The Commission on Services to the Aging advises the Office of Services to Aging, the governor, and the Legislature on matters related to policies and programs for older and aging persons in Michigan.  The commission also promotes senior citizen interests within state government and communities and administers the federal Older Americans Act programs and state-funded programs. 

This appointment is subject to Section 6 of Article V of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  It stands confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.

Michigan Board of Nursing

Reginald T. Armstrong of Detroit, president of EDGE International, LLC, is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring June 30, 2010.  He succeeds Suzanne M. Bosek who has resigned.

Karen A. Bowman of Lansing, nurse practitioner for Mid-Michigan Physicians, P.C., is appointed to represent nurse practitioners for a term June 30, 2009.  She succeeds Christopher E. Hermann who has resigned.

Mary J. Brown of Dimondale, registered nurse for the telemetry unit for the Ingham Regional Medical Center, is appointed to represent registered professional nurses without a baccalaureate engaged in professional nursing practice or nursing administration for a term expiring June 30, 2011.  She succeeds Liza M. Gamel-Marrell whose term has expired.

LaDonna A. Schultz of West Branch, Ogemaw County prosecutor, is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring June 30, 2010.  She succeeds Lourdes V. Anadya whose term has expired.

Jody M. Weissler of Lansing, finance and compliance director of the Michigan Democratic Party, is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring June 30, 2011.  She succeeds John H. Hale III whose term has expired.
                                                           
Melynda J. Daley of Marquette, clinic manager and licensed practical nurse for InforEd Clinic, is reappointed to represent licensed practical nurses for a term expiring June 30, 2012.

Michelle M. Johnson, R.N., M.S.N. of Marquette, associate professor of the department of practical nursing for Northern Michigan University, is reappointed to represent registered professional nurses with a master's degree engaged in nursing education in a licensed practical nurse program for a term expiring June 30, 2012.

Donica M. Stubbs, RN of Inkster, staff nurse at Oakwood Hospital and Medical Center, is reappointed to represent registered professional nurses with a baccalaureate degree engaged in nursing practice or nursing administration for a term expiring June 30, 2012. 

The Michigan Board of Nursing is responsible for the interpretation of licensure and examination of registered professional nurses, licensed practical nurses, and for the certification of nursing specialists.  The board shall set minimum standards of practice and assess penalties for when those standards are not met and recommend licensure to schools that provide nursing programs. 

These appointments and reappointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.

Controlled Substances Advisory Commission

Nina A. Bugbee of Flushing, president of the Teamster Local Union No. 332, is appointed to represent the Michigan Board of Nursing for a term expiring August 30, 2009.  She succeeds Margherita P. Clark whose term has expired.

David L. Dull of Ada, physician with Anesthesia Medical Consultants, is appointed to represent the Michigan Board of Medicine for a term expiring August 30, 2009.  He succeeds James D. Grant who has resigned.

Sarah M. Elkins of East Lansing, law student at Michigan State University College of Law, is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring August 30, 2009.  She succeeds Jeffrey T. Rogg whose term has expired.

Charles L. Blanchard of Haslett, professional healthcare representative for Pfizer, Inc., is reappointed to represent pharmaceutical manufacturers for a term expiring August 30, 2009.

Suhair Farida, R.Ph. of West Bloomfield, manager professional and college relations with CVS Corporation, is reappointed to represent the Michigan Board of Pharmacy for a term expiring August 30, 2009.

Rhonda J. Hennessy, D.D.S. of Northville, general dentist with Romulus Family Dental, P.C., is reappointed to represent the Michigan Board of Dentistry for a term expiring August 30, 2009.

Lawrence A. Letsche, D.V.M. of Plymouth, owner and veterinarian with Remrock Farms Veterinary Services, is reappointed to represent the Michigan Board of Veterinary Medicine for a term expiring August 30, 2009.

Bradley E. Meisling of Kalamazoo, senior controlled substances consultant for Pfizer Inc., is reappointed to represent the general public for a term expiring August 30, 2009. 

Scott A. Monteith, M.D. of Traverse City, physician and psychiatrist with Grand Traverse Behavioral Medicine in Wexford, is reappointed to represent licensed health care professionals from the field of psychiatry for a term expiring August 30, 2009. 

Claire E. Saadeh, Pharm.D. of Dewitt, associate professor in pharmacy practice at Ferris State University, is reappointed to represent pharmacologists for a term expiring August 30, 2009.

Tara L. Scott, DPM of Southfield, president of the Foot & Heel Pain Institute of Michigan, is reappointed to represent the Michigan Board of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery for a term expiring August 30, 2009. 

Douglas P. Vanator, D.O. of Olivet, osteopathic physician and surgeon in private practice, is appointed to represent the Michigan Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery for a term expiring August 30, 2009.   

Howard S. Wolpin of Franklin, president of Great Lakes Beverage, is appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring August 30, 2009.   

The Controlled Substances Advisory Commission is responsible for monitoring indicators of controlled substance abuse and diversion and recommending a plan of action for overcoming such abuse and diversion.

These appointments and reappointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.

Mackinac Bridge Authority

Robert C. Struck a Republican of Marquette, Marquette County commissioner and director of Upper Peninsula EMS Services, is reappointed for a term expiring June 30, 2014. 

Murray D. Wikol, a Democrat of Bloomfield Hills, president and CEO of ProVisions LLC, is reappointed for a term expiring June 30, 2014.

The Mackinac Bridge Authority creates rules and regulations in order to provide and maintain a system of services to ensure the safe operation of the Mackinac Bridge.  The authority, being a corporate body, may sue or be sued, plead or be pleaded, and contract or be contracted with.

These reappointments are subject to Section 6 of Article V of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.

Michigan Public Educational Facilities Authority

Amal M. Berry-Brown, a Democrat of Dearborn, vice president of business affairs management for Comerica Bank, is appointed for a term expiring March 18, 2012.  She succeeds Ganesh V. Reddy who has resigned.

Mark J. Burzych, a Republican of Okemos, partner with Fahey, Schultz, Burzych & Rhodes, P.C., is reappointed for a term expiring March 18, 2010.

Timothy A. Hoffman, a Republican of DeWitt, director of regulatory affairs for Consumers Energy, is reappointed for a term expiring March 18, 2010.

David S. Mittleman, a Democrat of East Lansing, attorney and partner with Church, Kritselis & Wyble, P.C., is designated to serve as chairperson of the Michigan Public Educational Facilities Authority for a term expiring at the pleasure of the governor.  This designation is not subject to disapproval. 

The Michigan Public Educational Facilities Authority, a bipartisan entity housed within the Michigan Department of Treasury, is responsible for administering the qualified public education facility bond program for Michigan's public schools that are in need of new public educational facilities or whose existing public educational facilities are in need of renovation and remodeling. 

These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
