February 17, 2009

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today issued the following statement on President Obama signing the economic recovery bill:

"I applaud President Obama for signing the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act into law and for taking bold steps to get our economy back on track," said Governor Granholm.  "This program will provide help for struggling Michigan families and will create over 100,000 new jobs in Michigan, rebuild our state's infrastructure, and invest in new energy technologies that will reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.  Michigan's economy will get the jumpstart it needs to create jobs for today and tomorrow while providing a safety net for our families during this national economic crisis."
