Local Gov - Road Salt

FYI: Just a reminder that any seasonal back-up amounts your entity requested for this winter season (2009/2010) is a commitment from your entity. Your entity is required to take 70% of that amount before August, 2010. Your entity has the option to have the awarded vendor store the road salt for you. Any questions about this should be directed to the vendor who was awarded your location. The contact person and phone numbers are listed below.

***Road Salt Requisition forms for 2010/2011 winter season were mailed out the week of February 16, 2010 to all MiDeal Members! Please note that you must be a MiDEAL member to participate in the road salt contract. If you are not a member and would like to join, contact us at MiDeal@michigan.gov.

2010/2011 ROAD SALT REQUISITION FORM

For those of you who are new to the road salt process:
Early fill awards- awarded vendor will contact you about delivery in Sept/Oct.
Seasonal Back-up- you will contact the vendor approx after Nov 1 for road salt as needed. The requests must be in at least 50 ton increments.

2009/2010 ROAD SALT REQUISITION FORM

A few highlights of the MiDEAL Road Salt Contracts:

Your quantity is guaranteed, which helps alleviate supply headaches.
You have additional product available if you max out your supply - all vendors are required to keep 30% extra here in Michigan to ensure that MiDEAL Members that participate in the road salt contracts have what they need in case of a heavy winter.
You are only required to accept 70% of your seasonal backup commitment.
