Disability/Inclusion and The MCSC

Creating an Inclusive National Service Program

  • Including People with Disabilities in National Service Programs Service and volunteer programs need to be proactive to ensure that everyone - including individuals with disabilities - have the opportunity to serve and to be active participants. Often managers need more information about accessible and inclusive recruiting or want disability-related information to assist supervisors of members or volunteers with disabilities.
  • Michigan Disability Resources Michigan's first website devoted specially to the interests, concerns, and needs of Michiganians with disabilities. Of Michigan's nearly 10 million residents, about 1.9 million have a disability. That's one in every five residents. The information on this site includes services and programs for people with disabilities offered by the State of Michigan as well as other sites of interest.
  • Michigan Inclusion Resource Guide The Michigan Inclusion Resource Guide was established to empower national service programs to make service a part of the lives of persons with disabilities. Through resource development, outreach, and assistance, the Guide works to provide Michigan's national service programs with information and resources to connect with disability communities to improve the quality of life for all Michigan residents.
