Consumer Advisory: Serrano peppers distributed in MI potentially contaminated with Salmonella MDARD issued a consumer advisory for serrano peppers supplied by Bailey Farms Inc. of Oxford, North Carolina and distributed by Meijer stores in Michigan because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. No illnesses have been reported to date.

Michigan Awarded $807,000 to Help Protect Western Lake Erie Basin MDARD was awarded an $807,000 Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) grant by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to help protect and preserve the western Lake Erie Basin (WLEB) from toxic algal blooms.

Michigan Animal Welfare Fund Calls for Grant Proposals MDARD announced the 2015 call for proposals through the Animal Welfare Grant. MDARD's Animal Industry Division (AID) has $175,000 available for grants of $10,000 or less through Public Act 132 of 2007, the Animal Welfare Fund Act. Applications must be postmarked or received by email before 5:00 p.m., Eastern Standard Time, on November 10, 2014.
