EPA's Renovation Repair & Painting (RRP) Program Rule   
     Four subgroups have been established to discuss and formulate
   
     what Michigan should do as it prepares to apply for authorization  
    
to enforce the Renovation, Repair, and Painting Rule.

RRP Stakeholders Subgroup Outlines


$$$$$ TO MAKE YOUR HOME LEAD-SAFE!

You qualify for help if:

  • You have a child under 6 years old living in or visiting the home on a regular basis
  • You are a low-moderate income family
  • You live in a home built before 1978
  • You live in Berrien, Calhoun, Genesee, Ingham, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Muskegon, Oakland or Wayne county OR your child has an elevated blood lead level (10 or above)
  • You own or rent the home

What is included?

  • Free Cleaning Kit, including cleaning supplies and door mats
  • Free Lead Inspection/Risk Assessment ($500 value) and report of findings
  • Lead Hazard Control work which may include new windows and doors and special cleaning and painting.

What is the cost?

  • Owner Occupied - Almost FREE!  We ask that homeowners give up to $300, depending on income.
  • Landlords- We provide up to $4,000 per unit; Landlords must come up with the rest.  We will also provide assistance in applying for a low-interest loan for lead hazard control.
  • Tenants- We need your landlord's permission before beginning work on the home.

Training sponsored by The National Paint and Coatings Association and Presented by The Training Network, Inc. 

This course satisfies the Michigan requirements for training to perform non-abatement lead hazard control work (interim controls), and is offered at no charge to attendees.  Additional training opportunities are also provided by accredited training providers.
