Author and Illustrator
Author Nancy Shaw
 Nancy Shaw was born in Pittsburgh in 1946. While growing up, Nancy states that she “gobbled up books” and didn’t have a TV until the third grade. Her family played word games during long car trips, and these trips helped develop her love for words and rhymes. She was on a dull car trip in 1982 with her daughter and son, when she began tinkering with animal rhymes. These silly stories turned into Sheep in a Jeep.
Nancy received degrees from both the University of Michigan and Harvard University. She worked at the Ann Arbor District Library while in college, and now lives in Ann Arbor, Mich., with her husband. Nancy has two adult children.

 Howard Fine is an illustrator and dentist who once dreamed of joining the NBA. He has illustrated many books for children, including Raccoon Tune and Bed Hogs, another Michigan Reads! selection. He lives in New York with his wife, two sons and daughter. |
