About Raccoon Tune
Michigan Reads! 2008
Art © 2003 by Howard Fine;

Raccoon Tune provides an exciting glimpse into the nightlife of a playful group of raccoons. The reader (who would normally be asleep!) gets to witness a raccoon family's nightly ritual of prowling for dinner through the trash. Told through a toe-tapping, knee-slapping
rhyme, the reader follows the raccoon family through the ups and downs of survival. Told in lively verse and action-filled pictures, Raccoon Tune is sure to make young readers laugh out loud.

Author and Illustrator
Author Nancy Shaw
Nancy ShawNancy Shaw was born in Pittsburgh in 1946. While growing up, Nancy states that she “gobbled up books” and didn’t have a TV until the third grade. Her family played word games during long car trips, and these trips helped develop her love for words and rhymes. She was on a dull car trip in 1982 with her daughter and son, when she began tinkering with animal rhymes. These silly stories turned into Sheep in a Jeep.

Nancy received degrees from both the University of Michigan and Harvard University. She worked at the Ann Arbor District Library while in college, and now lives in Ann Arbor, Mich., with her husband. Nancy has two adult children.

Other books by Nancy Shaw include:

Sheep in a Jeep (Houghton Mifflin, 1986)
Sheep on a Ship (Houghton Mifflin, 1989)
Sheep in a Shop (Houghton Mifflin, 1991)
Sheep Out to Eat (Houghton Mifflin, 1992)
Sheep Take a Hike (Houghton Mifflin, 1994)
Sheep Trick or Treat (Houghton Mifflin, 1997)
Sheep Blast Off! (Houghton Mifflin, forthcoming in 2008)
