Mentoring Children of Prisoners: Caregiver's Choice
Mentoring Children of Prisoners: Caregiver's Choice Children whose parents are incarcerated face unique challenges and can benefit deeply from a mentoring relationship. Caregiver's Choice helps facilitate these relationships by connecting children of incarcerated parents with mentoring programs that serve this population. Caregiver's Choice gives the caregiver the power to choose from a group of approved programs and empowers these mentoring programs by providing support, training, and funding.
Through Caregiver's Choice, your mentoring program can tap into significant federal funding. For each new match that is made between a youth whose parent is incarcerated and a caring adult mentor, your program can receive up to $1,000 in federal funding.
Mentor Michigan is the lead partner for Caregiver's Choice in Michigan. Mentor Michigan can answer questions about program eligibility, provide assistance and support during the application process, and train program staff in the reporting requirements.
