ABOUT the EMPLOYEE SERVICE PROGRAM
Our Mission is to provide the highest quality professional and confidential EAP assistance to state employees and their family members. The goals of the mission are to promote wellness and to prevent or resolve personal and organizational issues that may interfere with work productivity, home life or behavioral health. We do this by providing confidential, no cost services to classified state employees who may be experiencing work-related problems, or personal problems that affect their work. Master's level counselors provide professional assistance in the identification and resolution of both work and personal issues. Employees may request administrative, annual or medical leave for the initial meeting with an Employee Service Program counselor. The Employee Service Program provides assistance for a wide range of issues, including emotional difficulties, substance abuse, job performance problems, workplace conflicts, family problems and financial difficulties.

Costs for these services are typically covered by the employee's health insurance, and ESP counselors can help employees understand how to use this healthcare benefit. For urgent mental health situations 24 hours 7 days a week, employees covered by the state health plan PPO should contact Magellan of Michigan at 1-866-503-3158. Employees who belong to an HMO may call their HMO for assistance in selecting and contacting a provider. The HMO telephone number to call for assistance is located on the back of the HMO insurance card. Any employee with further questions may also call ESP.
In the event of a life-threatening emergency you should go immediately to the nearest emergency room. Your local police can be contacted at 911 for assistance if needed.
