The Michigan Week Youth Photo Contest invites young photographers around the state to capture views of their favorite historic sites. This contest is coordinated by Michigan State University Extension 4-H Youth Development and the Michigan Department of History, Arts and Libraries, with additional financial support comes from the Michigan Barn Preservation Network.

Junior Division (ages 9-12)

"I chose to photograph this site because it is over 100 years old. It still has the original playground equipment. 4-H meetings have been held here."

Fort St. Philippe de Michilimackinac
Mackinaw City, Michigan

"I chose to photograph this site because of a fifth grade class trip. Fort St. Philippe de Michilimackinac was founded and constructed by French soldiers in 1715. Archaeologists have been excavating the remains of the fort and are currently reconstructing it to look as it would hundreds of years earlier."

"The original barn burned. This barn, constructed in 1937, was a traditional ?barn raising' carried out by neighboring farmers. The Skeba family bought the farm from Herb Baughey who owned Boughey Bottling Co. of Traverse City."

"It is the oldest wooden residence still standing in the state. It was moved twice, and it originally stood on Willow Street in Monroe."
