Getting Your Motorcycle Endorsement is as Easy as 1-2-3!
#1 Pass the written test
#2 Pass the rider skills test
- Once you are comfortable with your riding ability, contact a rider skills testing organization to schedule a test. The test must be completed on a safe, properly registered, equipped and maintained motorcycle.
- The rider skills test is waived for those who pass the motorcycle rider safety training course approved by the Department of State or the Motorcycle Safety Foundation
#3 Get your endorsement
If you are age 16 or 17, you are required to take the motorcycle rider safety training course and you must present you course completion certificate to the Secretary of State branch office before your motorcycle endorsement will be issued.
If you are age 18 or older, you are not required to take the motorcycle rider safety training course unless you twice fail the rider skills test.
The tests are waived if you have a valid motorcycle license or endorsement in another state.
