    Allstate provides interesting facts and resources about safe driving for parents and teens. Parents and teens can also assess their road smarts through the website's interactive games that simulate driving situations and test mental sharpness, judgment and other driver-related skills.



    The Checkpoints Program offers parents information, links and resources about teaching teens to be safe drivers. 


    Courageous Persuaders
    Courageous Persuaders is an annual competition for high-school students in which they create videos targeted at middle-school students warning about the dangers of underage drinking.


    The Dangers of Drinking and Driving

    The driver-resource guide, "The Dangers of Drinking and Driving" explains the dangers and legal repercussions of drinking and driving. is supported by Alcohol Abuse Counsel and a trained group of volunteers.


    Ford Driving Skills for Life

    Ford Motor Co. provides parents of teen drivers with information, advice, a coaching guide and other resources for teaching their teen how to drive safely. Teens will find safe driving tips, information about car care and fuel economy, games to test their driving savvy and much more.


    Insurance Institute for Highway Safety

    Dedicated to reducing deaths, injuries and property damage from vehicle crashes, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is an independent, nonprofit, scientific and educational organization.


    Kelsey's Law Put your phone in park

    Kelsey's Law prohibits Level 1 and Level 2 license holders in the Graduated Driver Licensing program from using a cell phone while driving. The law is named for Kelsey Raffaele, 17, of Sault Ste. Marie, who died in a mobile phone-related automobile crash in 2010.


    The AAA offers information for parents and teens about driver safety, coaching a teen driver, choosing a car, Graduated Driver Licensing, driving solo, and traffic rules and regulations.


    Liberty Mutual

    Information about teen driving, car basics and safety, tips for tough driving situations and a practice quiz are presented for parents and teen drivers.


    Michigan Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association

    MDTSEA is an association of driver educators who, together with parents and teens, form an important partnership in the driver education process. At this website, parents and teens can access information on driver education laws, as well as explore links to other student- and parent-support websites.


    Mothers Against Drunk Driving

    The mission of Mothers Against Drunk Driving is to stop drunken driving, support the victims of this crime and prevent underage drinking.


    National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

    NHTSA provides ideas and resources for parents and educators how to teach teens about the dangers of alcohol and distracted driving, the benefits of safety belt use and the most common safety problems novice drivers should avoid. NHTSA directs the highway safety and consumer programs and is dedicated to achieving the highest standards of excellence in motor vehicle and highway safety, NHTSA works daily to help prevent crashes and their attendant costs, both human and financial.


    National Safety Council

    Teen-driver safety is the focus of the NSC website, which features a number of resources and information for parents of teen drivers. Statistics, online quizzes, research, safe driving videos and the DriveItHome interactive website (which was designed by parents of teen drivers for other parents) are just some of the resources available.



    This mobile app lets parents electronically track the time they spend with their GDL Level 1 teen driver. The app will track the time behind the wheel, note driving conditions, identify areas for driver improvement and provide summaries and pointers to help teens become safe, responsible and confident drivers.


    State Farm Insurance

    State Farm's Teen Driver Safety website is filled with free tools, tips and resources designed to help teens and their parents throughout the learning-to-drive process.



    STOPPED is a parental notification system developed by the Michigan Sheriffs' Association to reduce teen motor vehicle crashes.


    Teens and Trucks

    This Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) program offers free materials and information to help educate drivers on sharing the road with large trucks.


    Toyota Teen Driver

    Toyota Teen Driver is a comprehensive program to promote safe teen driving. Educators, parents and teens can learn from and use the videos, quizzes, games, helpful tips, lesson plans and other resources targeting driver safety for young drivers.
