As part of its continuing effort to help new business owners understand
Michigan's business taxes as well as their rights and responsibilities, the
Michigan Department of Treasury is hosting nine free Tax Seminars for New
Businesses over the next two months.
In addition to information about Sales, Use, and Withholding Taxes, Treasury
personnel will also address other tax-related issues such as audits,
assessments, collection procedures, appeal options, penalty waivers, and the
protection of confidential tax information. Staff will also answer specific
questions related to Sales, Use, and Withholding Tax and other taxes
administered by Treasury. A brief overview of the new Michigan Business Tax will
also be presented.
To sign up for one of the seminars, complete a registration form, which can
be downloaded from Treasury's Web site at
http://www.michigan.gov/taxes.
Enrollment is limited and early registration is encouraged. Each seminar will
begin at 9 a.m., and end by 4 p.m. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.
